Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy for CivilCalc Pro

Effective date: April 19, 2026 Last updated: April 19, 2026 Applies to the Android app and civilcalcpro.com
Plain-language summary.

CivilCalc Pro mainly stores your project and calculation data on your device. If you choose to enable Google Drive backup, the app uses your Google account and Google Drive app storage to back up and restore that app data. The app also uses Google Play for purchases and Google Mobile Ads for its ad-supported tier. We do not sell your Google Drive backup content and we do not use Google Drive backup data for advertising.

1. Scope and controller

This Privacy Policy explains how CivilCalc Pro (“CivilCalc Pro,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the CivilCalc Pro Android application and the civilcalcpro.com website.

For privacy and legal inquiries, you can contact us at contact@civilcalcpro.com. For support questions, you can contact support@civilcalcpro.com.

Important: CivilCalc Pro is designed so that most project content stays on your device unless you actively choose features such as backup, exports, operating-system sharing, or Google Play purchases.

2. Information we collect

The information involved depends on the features you choose to use.

Category Examples When it is involved
Project and calculation content Project names, manually entered locations, notes, calculator inputs, results, favorites, saved settings, onboarding status When you use the app, save calculations, create projects, or save settings
Google account information for backup Google account email address, display name, and profile photo URL Only if you choose to connect a Google account for backup
Backup credentials and backup file data Access tokens, locally stored refresh-token credentials used to refresh backup access in background tasks, backup metadata, and backup file contents containing your app data Only if you choose Google Drive backup

Information you enter into the app

Project names, typed locations, notes, calculation inputs, and results are content you choose to create in the app. By default, these are stored locally on your device so you can reopen and manage your work.

Google account and backup data

If you enable backup, CivilCalc Pro uses Google Sign-In and the Google Drive permission needed to access the hidden app-specific storage area in your own Google Drive. Backup files can include your projects, saved calculations, favorites, settings, and onboarding state. The app also stores connection details locally so backup can remain connected on the device you use.

Payments

Payments are processed by Google Play. CivilCalc Pro does not collect or store your full payment card number. We may receive or store purchase status and entitlement information necessary to unlock paid features or verify access.

3. How we use information

We use information only for the purposes described below.

Purpose Examples Typical legal basis where applicable

4. Google account and Google Drive backup data

CivilCalc Pro requests Google account access only if you choose to enable backup. That feature is intended to let you back up and restore your CivilCalc Pro data using your own Google account.

  • We use Google account information such as your email address, display name, and profile photo URL to show which account is connected for backup.
  • We use Google Drive app storage only to create, read, update, or restore CivilCalc Pro backup files associated with the app.
  • We do not use Google Drive backup data for advertising, data brokerage, or unrelated profiling.
  • We do not sell your Google Drive backup content.
  • If you disconnect backup in the app, that disconnects the app from the account on your device, but it may not automatically delete backup files that already exist in your Google Drive app storage.

Backup content can include personal or project information that you choose to type into the app, such as project names, manually entered locations, notes, calculation inputs, and results. Only enable backup if you are comfortable storing that information in your own Google account’s app-specific Drive storage.

5. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share or disclose information only in the following situations:

  • Service providers and platform operators: for example Google Play Billing, Google Sign-In, Google Drive, Google Mobile Ads, and the hosting providers used for the website.
  • When you choose to share or export: if you export a PDF or CSV or use your device’s sharing tools, the receiving apps, platforms, or contacts process the information under their own terms and privacy rules.
  • Legal or safety reasons: where reasonably necessary to comply with law, regulation, court order, enforceable request, or to protect rights, users, or the service.
  • Business transfer scenarios: if the app or related assets are reorganized, merged, financed, or transferred, information may be transferred as part of that process subject to applicable law.

Third-party services used by or with CivilCalc Pro

  • Google Play Billing for subscriptions and one-time purchases
  • Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) for advertising
  • Google Sign-In and Google Drive for optional backup and restore
  • GitHub Pages for civilcalcpro.com website hosting
  • Connectivity checks that may reach Google or Cloudflare endpoints when the app verifies internet access for certain online features

International transfers

Some third-party providers operate globally, which means information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where applicable, those providers are responsible for the safeguards and mechanisms they use for international data transfers under their own services and agreements.

6. Retention

  • Local app data: retained on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
  • Backup connection details: retained on your device while backup remains connected, until removed, cleared, or the app is uninstalled.
  • Google Drive backup files: retained in your Google account’s app storage until replaced, removed, or otherwise cleared from that account. Disconnecting in the app does not necessarily delete previously created cloud backups.
  • Purchase and entitlement records: retained locally as needed to manage access, restoration, and fraud prevention, subject to Google Play’s own records and retention.
  • Emails you send us: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, document requests, or satisfy legal obligations.
  • Website logs: retained according to the hosting provider’s practices.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information used by the app and website. No system is perfectly secure, and no method of transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for safeguarding your device, your Google account, and any exported files that you share outside the app.

8. Your choices and rights

In-app choices

  • You can edit or delete project content and saved calculations within the app.
  • You can disconnect Google Drive backup from the app.
  • You can manage notification permission in your device settings.
  • You can manage subscriptions through Google Play.
  • You can choose whether to export or share files outside the app.

Advertising choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, device, and Google settings, you may be able to limit certain advertising processing through platform, device, or Google account controls. If the app presents regional consent choices in the future, those choices will apply as described at that time.

Legal rights that may apply to you

Depending on where you live, you may have rights such as access, correction, deletion, portability, withdrawal of consent, restriction, objection, or the right to complain to a regulator. These rights are not absolute and can depend on the legal basis and the nature of the data involved.

To make a request, email contact@civilcalcpro.com and describe your request and the email or account details relevant to it. If the requested data is held primarily by Google, Google Play, or another third party under your own account, you may also need to use that provider’s own controls.

California notice

If California law applies to you and CivilCalc Pro qualifies as a covered business for the relevant processing, California residents may have rights such as the right to know, delete, correct, and non-discrimination, and in some cases rights relating to the sale, sharing, or limiting of sensitive personal information. CivilCalc Pro does not sell Google Drive backup content for money.

9. Children’s privacy

CivilCalc Pro is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information to us in a way that should not have happened, contact contact@civilcalcpro.com so we can review the issue.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may update the date above, update the policy in the app or on the website, and where required by law or platform rules, seek renewed consent or provide additional notice before using information in a materially different way.
